The BC Baby Friendly Network offers our sincere congratulations to the facilities and to all the hard working members of the accreditation teams which made achieving the BFHI designation possible.

Fraser Bell, Quesnel health services administrator, said “the process has been a long one...but the work put into this achievement by many dedicated staff at GR Baker Memorial has been worth it for the mothers and babies we care for, and for our facility.” Quesnel began the process toward BFI designation in 1999.
At the time of accreditation, GR Baker was among only 9 hospitals across Canada, and the first west of Ontario, to achieve this status.

Marianne Brophy, co-chair of the Breastfeeding Committee for Canada presented a plaque to Pam O’Sullivan, VP of Acute Care and members of the BC Women’s BFI Steering Committee. BC Women’s began the journey a number of years ago and with the oversight of the Steering Committee has guided staff in achieving best practices to achieve the Baby-Friendly designation received November 4th.
BC Women’s is the largest hospital in Canada to be designated as Baby-Friendly.
